Yesterday (Saturay 14th July) I spent three hours down at the ground helping witht he boring jobs that no one really notices have been done but need doing all the same (cleaning the players plastic tunnelcover, washing the turnstiles, trimming the overhanging branches from the trees in the car park.
There were 6 of us doing these jobs (see below plus me behind the camera - everyone agreed that was the best place for me to be on all counts)
Peter (far left) was painting the turnstile block and discovered a birds nest. It could be argued that our poor performances last season had something to do with the bird choosing this site as it was so quite but that would be the sort of thing a Matlock Town would say, not me.
Only 8 more days and I'll have to dust the camera off for real for the visit of Mansfield Town on July 23rd. That is also the day we arrange the first meeting of the Belper Town Committee - fun times ahead for all I think.
