Today stayed dry despite the look of an impending Armageddon sky at one point. I took this picture in the early afternoon from the front bedroom.Somehow this passed over without depositing it's content onto an already sodden town in Amber Valley. We took a walk down to the local mini-superstore to pick up a few essentials - despite the threatening skyline.
Got a Sunday paper with a free Peter Gabriel CD - must be my age but I quite enjoyed it when I had a listen. As all good photographers should I took a camera with me. I put the G5 into my pocket and set myself the challenge of taking a photograph worth uploading to the blog on a very plain walk through the estate.

I managed to get not one, not two but three that I think are worth adding. First there is the picture of the peeling door leading to the allotments on route. Although the door itself is not a particularly exciting one the peeling pain makes it look interesting. Without being able to see what is on the other side theres always that thought, what is behind the green door?
My next offering was taken a few strides up the hill as the view over the allotments came into view. Luckily there was a chap tending his allotment and I grabbed a shot of him bending down, so engrossed in what he was doing he never even noticed a stange man pointing a camera in his direction - then again perhaps it happens to him all the time, strange place Belper! My final offering is again a shot of the allotments, this time taken from a further on again. This was crying tout to be changed to black and white - so I did.
It now looks timeless, could have been taken years ago - I guess thats allotments for you, they just never move with the times ! Actually I imagine that this is the attraction of allotments, you go there to get away from it all, and gather the fruits (well veg) of your labour at the end of it.My next challenge? I've charged up the battery for my 2mp Canon IXUS - it will go everywhere with me and lets see if I can get some shots worth adding to the blog. We shall see what happens.
